Volunteer/Internship Opportunities

What to expect...

The International Puerto Rican Heritage Film Festival (IPRHFF) is an organization full of high-functioning, creative people dedicated to inspiring and championing the work of Boricua and Latino screenwriters, filmmakers, and artists who work within the medium of film and television. We’re searching for independent, focused people to assist with this year’s film festival. If you’re a goal-oriented, creative problem solver and desire to learn more about not just creating a successful film festival but learn about what makes a great film, then we would love to hear from you. Our internships will help you build a multi-disciplinary foundation based in film creation, live events and more. Additional developmental skillsets include planning, execution, customer support, and team collaboration. By joining the International Puerto Rican Heritage Film Festival family you’ll enter an environment with a strong sense of culture, camaraderie and focused attention to details that offer a personal touch to our supporters – also known as sabor.

Each intern will learn from the Festival Director and/or Artistic Director directly. Interns will join the team virtually for onboarding and eventually in person as the festival returns to its home in El Barrio. Each intern will cycle through various portions of the festival to learn more direct skills such as the integral work of the selections committee and judging. More hard skills will come in the form of asset delivery, formatting and captioning, and overall quality control for exhibition. Further exposure to other departments may include those such as marketing and outreach, capital campaign, sponsorship and more. During the film festival, each intern will serve at least one day of exhibition during the festival run to learn about patron/customer engagement, timing of blocks and Q&As. From that point, each intern will be able to enjoy the remainder of the festival as a patron.
