Synopsis:
The Gorani Kurds living in Iran’s Hewraman region continue to keep a thousand-year-old tradition alive today. Gathering every winter in the village of Uraman Takht—situated at the foothills of the Zagros Mountains—to commemorate Pir Shaliyar, the people reenact his legendary wedding through ritual. Rooted in the region’s deep-seated culture, this ceremony is repeated annually as a spiritual journey—woven with acts of worship and *dhikr*—that has managed to endure through the ages.
