A lyrical and sensitive autobiographical exploration of the filmmaker’s family history with child sexual abuse and a culture of silence.
Synopsis:
SILENT BEAUTY is a lyrical personal documentary that follows director Jasmín López in her process of healing from child sexual abuse that she endured at the hands of her grandfather, Gilberto, over thirty years ago. In the process of sharing her trauma, she’s confronted with a long history of similar cases in her family. Elegantly crafted from the director’s own perspective, SILENT BEAUTY is a film about confronting and accepting difficult truths, while finding beauty in the process.
