Logline:
This is a vessel – for Kali.
Synopsis:
In the Vedantic philosophy of Vivartavada, the world we perceive is but a reflection of a deeper reality. Reflections in Gold: Vivarta serves as a digital vessel for this observation- a bridge between the domestic rhythms of Puerto Rican life and the destructive, regenerative dance of Kali through flamenco inspired movements.
By elevating the mundane acts of labor, nourishment, and family into sacred iconography, the film seeks to uncover the “gold” hidden in daily life.
Through a minimalist-but-mystic visual language, the work builds from an intimate silence of old archives to an explosive, ritualistic climax and ends with the laughter of 3 generations followed by a return to earth through the watering of a giant taro (yautia).
It is a ritual of looking- at the past, the camera, and ultimately the Self. This is not merely a film; it is a living container for the energies of rebirth.
