Lunch Box

Logline:

Over the course of three days, a team of underdog, misfit kids seek a victory on the schoolyard against their all-star classmates and win the prize lunch box.

Synopsis:

During recess at a typical middle school, a group of eighth grade students compete every day in a sports competition for the coveted prize: a lunch box. The lunch box is merely filled with junk food, but winning this metaphorical trophy also comes with the glory of victory on the schoolyard.

The teams are outmatched. “The All-Stars” are all athletically-gifted and play on the school-sponsored teams. “The Rejects,” are a ragtag group who despite falling short on the playing field, line up every day for a chance to beat their classmates and change the status quo.

One day, the natural order is disrupted by the arrival of a new boy in the class who joins the Rejects and helps them nearly beat the All-Stars. Despite losing, the Rejects are renewed in their spirit to beat the All-Stars. The next day, the game is changed from football to basketball in the gymnasium.

Despite overwhelming odds, the Rejects have their day. They find a stroke of luck, playing above their abilities and beating the All-Stars, earning the lunch box and the glory of an underdog victory.
