Our Mission

The International Puerto Rican Heritage Film Festival (IPRHFF)’s mission is

to create platforms that allow a diverse pool of influencers in filmmaking to reach a broader audience.

The International Puerto Rican Heritage Film Festival (IPRHFF)’s mission is to create platforms that allow a diverse pool of influencers in filmmaking to reach a broader audience.

We develop programs that allow local and international filmmakers, from emerging artists to film industry veterans, to reach out to audiences throughout New York City and beyond.

Our goal is to foster a collaborative environment for artists from all countries to explore issues inherent to the heritage of Puerto Rico, its diaspora, and explore stories relevant to the larger Latino community.

Imagination Beyond Expectation (IBE) is an educative program to teach fundamentals of filming to children ages 6-18.

The program intends to instruct these kids over the course of 3 weeks teaching them key elements of a film, from developing a story, to scriptwriting to storyboarding, to filming and finally editing.

In Summer of 2023, Imagination Beyond Expectation gave 18 students that have never received any form of film education, the opportunity to learn about the filmmaking progress and work as collaborators in making their story ideas come to life from start to finish. The final product of 6 short films were presented at the IPRHFF Festival in November.

In 2024, IBE will expand to four (4) separate programs over the course of the year with the intention to reach more children in our community.

IBE estimates that 80-100 children could receive this film making education. IBE’s mission is to give young people the opportunity to experience film from the creative angle, before it is in the big screen… We are impacting the lives or our future filmmakers, actors, writers, directors, producers, etc.
