A PANEL DISCUSSION
HISPANICS IN HOLLYWOOD
at 12:00PM
with
Luis Guzmán and Luna Lauren Velez
What does it mean to be Boricua? Latino? Due to the diversity of our origins, the entertainment industry continues to struggle with representation of Latinos and in particular Puerto Ricans. Our beautiful mosaic was influenced by Taino Indians, Spaniards and African slaves, not to mention the myriad of groups that settled on the island. Join us for a special panel with Luis Guzmán and Luna Lauren Velez as we discuss how we are portrayed in the industry through typecasting vis a vis phenotype and what we must do to change the industry for the better. A special screening of the film “Golden Flower”, which tells the story of the late Taina Kasike (Chief), Anacaona but with a modern twist will kick off the conversation.
Awards Ceremony

Sunday, November 5th
at 4:00pm
Free Admission
No registration necessary.
